The Deep Workshop: Exploring Artistic Process & Expression

Overview: Through a combination of exercises, demonstrations, and group support, we will explore both the process and meaning behind our work, ultimately helping you clarify your artistic intentions and elevate your practice to new heights.

Whether you're creating art for personal fulfillment or preparing to share your work with the world, this workshop provides a unique opportunity to connect more deeply with your craft. It’s an invitation to find clarity in the process, gain confidence in your artistic voice, and create with intention.

What You Will Gain:

• Confidence in Your Art: Develop trust in your process, cultivating a deeper understanding of when your work is complete and how to recognize when it needs more attention.

• Improved Technical Skills: Through a variety of mixed media techniques, you’ll gain hands-on experience with both dry and wet materials, learning to incorporate new tools and approaches into your practice.

• Clarity of Intent: Learn how to set realistic, actionable goals for your artistic journey and begin crafting an artist statement that reflects the essence of your work

• A Supportive Community: Share your process with other artists in a committed, safe environment. Support each other as you grow, experiment, and prepare to step into greater visibility.

Key Tools & Techniques:

• Advanced mixed media techniques, including working with dry materials (charcoal, pencil, pastel) and wet media (acrylic paint, collage, oil pastels).

• A variety of substrates including paper, canvas, and wood panels, exploring both small- scale and large-scale work

• Strategies for setting creative intentions and goals, helping you stay focused and inspired.

• Idea generation exercises to spark new concepts, imagery, and content for your work.

• Daily demonstrations on different aspects of artistic practice, such as composition, color theory, structure, and metaphor.

• Guided prompt meditations to center and inspire you at the start of each day.

Workshop Structure:

We’ll begin each day with a brief, reflective meditation to open our mind and set the tone for creativity. Throughout the workshop, you’ll engage in various exercises designed to generate new ideas and work, using the essential components of authentic art- making: image, metaphor, structure, composition, color, shape, and content. These exercises will help you distill your artistic vision and bring your unique voice to the forefront.

You’ll work with a mix of materials and techniques, starting with dry media like charcoal and pastel, then moving into collage, acrylics, and oil pastels. By exploring different sizes and substrates, you’ll discover what it feels like to create on a larger scale or experiment with more intimate, smaller pieces.

Who This Workshop Is For:

• Artists at any stage in their practice who want to reconnect with their inner creative process.

• Those looking to experiment with new materials and techniques to expand their artistic toolkit.

• Individuals who wish to gain a better understanding of their artistic goals and find clarity in their work.

• Anyone seeking a supportive, immersive environment to grow, share, and gain insight into both the technical and personal aspects of art-making.

Why Art Heals:

Art is a profound tool for healing—not only for the artist but also for the world.

Through this workshop, you’ll explore the transformative power of creating with purpose,

learning how to engage with both your inner process and your external expression. By coming

together as a group of committed, like-minded artists, we create a space where each individual

can grow, heal, and ultimately contribute to a collective vision through their work.

What to Bring:

• An open and curious mind.

• Materials you currently use or are curious to experiment with (if you’re unsure, I’ll provide a list of suggested supplies).

• A willingness to dive deep into both the technical and emotional aspects of your artistic

practice.

Come ready to challenge yourself, to experiment, and to leave with a clearer sense of who you are as an artist and why you create.

This workshop promises to be a profound experience of both technical growth and personal transformation. Join us in the pursuit of deeper understanding and expression—both for yourself and the world around you.
